Take THAT! Italian Village.

It was my turn to plan date night - and I chose for us to make pizza benders. Then we went to Home Depot (still counts as date night if we go together for a joint project effort) and ended with ice cream from Cold Stone.

p.s. Italian Village, I still miss you and can't wait to visit you when I come out to Utah in May. Please wait for me.

Quote of the day

"What's up with you being so awesome lately?" - My Husband.

My reply was, "I'm sorry. I'm sorry for being awesome lately and for not being awesome previously."

I made pesto tonight from my basil plant. It's crap like that (ie: waffles from scratch last night and homemade pesto tonight) that provoked the aforementioned comment. Thanks, Honey. :)

Inevitable

Well, it was bound to happen sometime....I just got called to be the Laurel's adivsor in the Young Womens. Pray for me.

Mutual last night was baptism by fire - but it went surprisingly well. Sunday I'll have to teach my first lesson and hip, hop, hooray - there will be visitors from the stake sitting in on my class.

We are daughters of our Heavenly Father.....

Enero, Febrero

December is fun with all the Christmas time spirit, sitting by the fire sipping hot chocolate under the twinkly lights of the Christmas tree. But then you take down all of your Christmas decorations and New Years has come and gone…and it’s just cold. I mean really, really, bone-chilling, biting wind cold. And this, my friends, is why January and February are so hard. Last year I got to travel a little during those months to Florida and California where it was not so cold. This year, it’s just cold.

I had a toasted blueberry bagel with honey almond cream cheese and a hot chocolate for breakfast today. I’m fighting the cold one day at a time.

Bbrrrrrrr.

HP vs. Twilight

I found this on someone else's blog and thus cannot take any credit but I found it again today and seeing as I was thinking about Twilight just this morning, I thought it was a good time to share it.

Did and Didn't.

Today I showered, but I didn't get ready.

Today I didn't work out, but I did run up and down my stairs a bunch of times in lieu of working out. It was too cold outside and plus, I've been sick the past few days and I don't think my lungs or runny nose or pounding headache would have been too happy to see the elliptical. I feel justified.

Take THAT, January 4.

(Thanks, Carl, for dancing with me in the kitchen at lunch today even though I was looking so scrubby. I do love the dancing.)

Friend me.

Carl and I had a discussion this week about why I was not on Facebook. I am not necessarily against Facebook, I just can't see why it would improve my life to be on it.

At first, I didn't want to sign up because I don't like to fill out those profiles online. Not because of the time it takes, but because I don't like to describe myself by filling out a few boxes and have someone "understand who I am" because of them. Another compelling reason not to join (originally MySpace) was because I was a teacher and it was something all the high school kids were really into. I just couldn't get caught up in something like that.

I would hear friends talking about people they found on FB and what was going on in their lives. Other friends wanted to share pics they had added to their page. Some suggested that the best way to get a hold of so-and-so was to 'facebook them'. None of these things were persuasive enough for me to feel the need to sign up.

Carl isn't a super-active user of Facebook but has an account and uses it sometimes. He said that one of the reasons he likes FB is being able to share pictures. To which I reply, that is the exact reason that I started a blog. I feel like the friends and family who care check my blog so I should be covered there.

One last time, I am not against Facebook - I'm just not looking for one more thing to check, add to, and worry about. I have no void to fill, I have no trouble filling my time on the Internet, and I feel like I generally know what my friends are up to.

At the end of the conversation Carl said he had come to a conclusion. Before he could even say his theory about why I didn't like FB, I finished his sentence. I have spent so much time and energy in my life nurturing friendships, writing letters, remembering birthdays, and keeping in touch with people that to have Facebook come along and make it so easy for everyone to do the same is kind of a slap in the face. Although that thought had never occurred to me before, I don't disagree.

End Result: My new year's resolution is to get on Facebook. I have a year to think about it. It may or may not happen but if it does - will you be my friend?

And Twitter...who even knows what that is anyway?
